Test vs live

Build against test keys for free. Switch to a live key when real users need real documents.

Test keys

• Start with dg_test_.
• Never call a paid model: answers go through a deterministic test drafter, so the same request gives the same document.
• Produce watermarked files that are not for use.
• Are free, and count separately in usage.

Live keys

Live keys (dg_live_) draft with the production model and are billed.

Telling them apart

Every session and document has livemode: false when a test key made it, true for a live key.
